Meeting my SHEROE, Ernestine Shepherd, on this upcoming Memorial Day Monday!

I am not a person who lives for the weekends. In fact, Monday is my favorite day of the week because for me, it is a day of renewal, a day at the beginning of the week to right some wrongs. Mondays can set the tone, good or bad, for the rest of the week and most importantly it is the day that the LORD has made and so I refuse to wish it away.

This weekend, I will be flying to Baltimore, MD to visit with my oldest daughter, Jessica, my future son-in-law, Mario, and my one and only grandbaby, Aria Rose!

If that's not enough to get excited about, Jessica and I will be at a gym working out on MONDAY MORNING with world renowned, Ernestine Shepherd, best known for being, at one point, the oldest competitive female bodybuilder in the world, as declared by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2010 and 2011.

I will be purchasing a copy of her book "Determined, Dedicated, Disciplined to be Fit", The Ageless Journey of Ernestine Shepherd. We might even seize the opportunity to dine together before I head back to Louisiana.

You can say what you want about Mondays, but, my weekend will start with PURE JOY and culminate in that same vain on MONDAY!

I will be in worship and fellowship at Charm City Church on Sunday morning, located at 3703 Bank Street, Baltimore, MD 21224 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Eli Hernandez!

WATER AEROBICS BREATHES LIFE!

I got THE BEST WORKOUT yesterday in the LA Fitness pool. I was able to physically perform feats in the water that I NEVER would have been able to do out of the water, especially with the VIGOR in which I was moving. I am feeling the soreness today over my entire body. I created my own WATER AEROBICS. Now that I know how effective it is, I will follow and duplicate water aerobic exercises provided that are available on YouTube.

Man, if I could or had the means to do so, I would do WATER AEROBICS EVERYDAY! AWESOME WORKOUT and then hit either the HOT TUB or the SAUNA and then maybe finish off with 30 minutes on the Life Cycle.

I AM IN THE WORKOUT ZONE AND IT ONLY GETS BETTER FROM HERE!

My first real day back at LA Fitness in a very long time.

Came to LA Fitness immediately after church today.

2. 500 Run in place in the pool (knee to chest)
3. 4.10 Miles & Burned 152 Calories in 35 Minutes - Life Cycle

For someone who really haven't done um...ANYTHING in almost um...FOREVER, this is a pretty darn good start, if I do say so MYSELF. πŸ˜„πŸ˜πŸ˜„πŸ˜πŸ˜„πŸ˜

I FEEL GREAT and I am MOTIVATED to making this one of my regular lifestyle habits.

IT ONLY GETS BETTER FROM HERE! πŸ‘Blowing myself a huge kiss! πŸ˜™πŸ˜™πŸ˜™ When I get home, I am cooking a turkey, a pot of kale and collard greens with chicken, picking up the apartment, prepping my meals for the week, and then relaxing for the evening.

DAY 7 UPDATE: 30 DAY ABS CHALLENGE


DAY 7: Alarm went off at 7:00 AM. By 7:12 AM, I was doing my MORNING SET OF 40 situps and 20 crunches. I will do my EVENING SET OF 40 situps and 20 crunches as I am laying down to go to bed for the night.

NOTE: I added the 2nd set to maximize my abs workout. In addition to the abs and crunches, I have STOPPED riding the bus across campus to and from the law center. I am now POWER WALKING across campus. I am not just strolling along. I will even do this IN THE RAIN, however, when we get them downpours and flash flood and tornado warnings, a sister WILL BE ON THE SHUTTLE BUS. AMEN! LOL

The leg raises got to be a bit much (too much, too soon) and the planks, temporarily, are not up for discussion.

I am DEFINITELY FEELING THE WORK BEING PUT IN ON MY ABS! I don't even look in the mirror because I understand that my transformation will begin to manifest itself from THE INSIDE OUT! That means, it will be a fairly long while before the beauty of what's going on with my muscles on the inside will become evident to anyone seeing me on the outside.

What's occurring internally is that it feels like I am WITHOUT EFFORT walking around holding my stomach in. I can also feel the workout throughout the day. I won't say that it's painful, but, slightly sore, but, not painfully so. I felt that way going into my workout this morning, but, it was NOT uncomfortable for me to do my morning situps and crunches.

Finally, and I'll have to look this up, but, it also feels like I'm getting a form of aerobic exercise. I need to check if I am breathing correctly when doing my situps and crunches. I remember being told years ago that with every move there is a time to INHALE and there's a time to EXHALE. I have NOT been concentrating on that. I've been concentrating on being consistent in getting the workouts in.

DAY 5 UPDATE: 30 DAY ABS CHALLENGE


So, it is DAY 5 and I'm feeling good!

DAY 1, I got through the sit-ups and crunches, but, began cramping in my stomach and side immediately following. I think that it came from not being hydrated enough coupled with the fact that I haven't exercised in a really long time. I cannot remember the last time I used my stomach muscles, I mean REALLY USED my stomach muscles with that level of rigor. It was even difficult for me to do the leg raises DAY 1 AND DAY 2.

As for the PLANKS, I am foregoing those for this FIRST 30 DAY WORK OUT. I am not strong enough to do those, not yet.

TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE.

Yesterday, DAY 4, was REST DAY.

Today is DAY 5 and I am back on my routine. Starting tomorrow, I WILL BEGIN DOUBLING UP. Each day, I will do the SIT-UPS, CRUNCHES, AND LEG-RAISES, BOTH IN THE MORNING, WHEN I WAKE UP, AND AT NIGHT, AS I AM GOING TO BED.

I had a PERSONALTRAINER (Cliff Bomar of Tennessee), tell me that THE BEST TIME for me to exercise is FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, literally almost as I'm rolling out of bed. He was telling me to roll out of bed and right onto the treadmill. Something about what your body is doing as you sleep and there being better effects of your body responding to the cardio if you do it immediately upon waking up. Therefore, doing my sit-ups, crunches, and leg-raises will be my first move after opening my eyes every morning and it will be my last move before going to bed at night.

I am also going to do this workout plan for the month of DECEMBER 2015 and JANUARY 2016. I plan to do this workout IN ADDITION to hitting the gym and using the TREADMILL and WEIGHT TRAINING!

***HOW I KEEP FOCUSED***

WHILE I AM WORKING OUT, I AM VISUALIZING AND SEEING MYSELF AS I DESIRE TO BE INSTEAD OF SEEING MYSELF AS I REALLY AM. I AM VISUALLY, MENTALLY, SPIRITUALLY, AND PHYSICALLY IN THE GAME, THIS TIME AROUND!

As we get older, PRESERVING our bodies is something that we MUST do. Those of us who are over 50, we get it! There are things that we used to do that we can't or should not do. There are things that we used to eat that we can't and just should not eat. We used to get by on very little sleep, but now getting our rest is at the top of list of our priorities. If we don't attempt to PRESERVE our bodies, they begin to break down under time, under wear and tear, under the lack of PRESERVING them. Some of the same types of things that would happen to foods if they weren't PRESERVED, will happen to us. This photo shows exactly what GROWING OLD GRACEFULLY looks like. Both of these individuals are in about their mid to late 70s and they are in the BEST PHYSICAL CONDITION OF THEIR LIVES! They EPITOMIZE just how healthy we can be even as the clock tick. Death is imminent. We each will have a turn, but, IN THE MEAN TIME, the word of the day is PRESERVE! Please, JOIN ME in PRESERVING our bodies and the physical quality of our lives. THE NEXT STEP IS YOURS!
