Let’s face it, the thought of drinking kale and spinach is not appealing to most people. If you are up on the latest studies about the benefits of superfoods, you know that they are at the top of the list. I remember when I began the NutriBullet program, I was hesitant because I did not like the taste of anything that was green, but I knew that my health depended upon incorporating “green foods” into my diet. Fortunately the NutriBullet program provides delicious recipes and guidance on how to build your own superfood drink depending on tastes and goals.

Since my immediate objective, when trying the program, was to increase my energy and detox my body from the chemotherapy, I decided to begin with the Toxin Cleanser recipe. Aware of my lack of enthusiasm towards vegetables, my husband sat anxiously awaiting my response after taking a sip of my first NutriBlast. We were both surprised at how much I enjoyed the drink.  I felt encouraged and excited from that moment, and with good reason.

In addition to the immediate increase in energy, my cravings for my beloved morning coffee and my daily sugary treats subsided; something that I never thought possible. Instead of my constant thoughts of caffeine, carbs and sugar throughout the day, my thoughts turned to which NutriBlast I could whip up next. During the first week I lost five pounds, and it was effortless! The NutriBullet program recommends beginning with one NutriBlast each day for the first week to allow your body to adjust to the mega amounts of nutrients. I have to admit that I started drinking two after the third day because I was so happy feeling the difference in my overall well-being.

Be aware that the following recipe does live up to its name, but you will not regret the benefits of this amazing NutriBlast! Enjoy!

Toxin Cleansing Blast

1-2 handfuls of rinsed spinach (I usually add a little kale)
1 cored and sliced pear
1 banana
1 cored and sliced apple
1 cup of pineapple (fresh or frozen)
10 walnuts

Please note: If you are currently on any blood thinning medication and/or receiving chemotherapy, you need to discuss with your physician the medication(s) interaction with certain fruits and vegetables.
